1910年にノーベル平和賞を受賞した世界最古の平和団体ある「国際平和ビューロー」(IPB)が、医療や社会ニーズに対応するために軍事費を「大幅に削減」するよう訴えている。3月27日に署名運動が開始された請願書は、今年9月15日の国連総会初日に総会に提出される予定だ。

IPBは、請願書とベルリン本部から出された声明のなかで、「国際社会は毎年1.8兆ドルを軍事費に支出しているほか、今後20年間で新型核兵器に1兆ドルを費やす予定だ。」と述べている。

БЕРЛИН (IDN) – Старейшая в мире пацифистская неправительственная организация, лауреат Нобелевской премии мира 1910 года Международное бюро мира (МБМ/IPB), призывает к «резкому сокращению» военных расходов в пользу здравоохранения и удовлетворения социальных потребностей. Петиция, запущенная 27 марта и подписанная всеми заинтересованными сторонами, будет представлена на Генеральной Ассамблее Организации Объединенных Наций в первый день открытия следующей сессии 15 сентября 2020 года.
