НЬЮ-ЙОРК (IDN). В 2021 году исполняется 30 лет со дня закрытия Семипалатинского испытательного полигона, 76 лет с момента основания Организации Объединенных Наций, бомбардировок Хиросимы и Нагасаки, первой тройки ядерных испытаний, 51 год Договору о нераспространении ядерного оружия (ДНЯО), 25 лет Договору о всеобъемлющем запрещении ядерных испытаний (ДВЗЯИ), который не вступил в силу. В этом году также прекращено действие Договора о ликвидации ракет средней и меньшей дальности (ДРСМД) и до февраля 2026 года был продлен новый Договор о сокращении стратегических наступательных вооружений (СНВ-III).

NOVA IORQUE (IDN) – O ano 2021 marca o 30º aniversário do encerramento do campo de testes de Semey, o 76º aniversário dos bombardeamentos de Hiroshima e Nagasaki, da primeira Trindade de testes atómicos, 51 anos do Tratado de Não-Proliferação de Armas Nucleares (NPT), 25 anos do Tratado de Proibição Total de Ensaios Nucleares (CTBT) que não entrou em vigor, colapso do Tratado de Forças Nucleares de Interesse Intermédio (INF) e extensão do Novo Tratado de Redução de Armas Estratégicas (Novo START) até fevereiro de 2026.

広島と長崎は、８月６日と９日に、核兵器禁止（核禁）条約が今年１月２２日に発効してから初の「原爆の日」を迎える。国際法に初めて「核兵器は違法」の規範が確立した歴史的偉業の背景には、ヒバクシャをはじめ様々な市民社会による積極的な貢献があった。
米国の核の傘に安全保障を依存している日本政府は、これまでのところ核禁条約に加盟しない立場をとっている。しかし、２０２０年中旬から２１年１月の間に日本で実施された世論調査によると、明らかに大多数（最高値で７２％）の国民が、日本政府は核禁条約に加盟すべきと回答していた。

도쿄 (IDN) — 히로시마와 나가사키는 1월 22일 핵무기 금지 조약 (TPNW)이 발효된 이후 처음으로 8월 6일과 9일에 원자폭탄이 투하된 날을 기념했다. 원자폭탄 피폭 생존자들(히바쿠샤)과 다양한 시민단체들이 이 역사적 성취에 적극적으로 기여했다.
일본의 국가 안보를 미국의 핵우산에 의존하는 일본 정부는 지금까지 TPNW 가입에 반대하는 입장을 견지해 왔다. 반면 2020년 중반부터 2021년 1월까지 일본에서 실시된 여론 조사에 따르면 일본 인구의 절대 다수(최고 72%)는 일본이 TPNW에 가입해야 한다고 생각한다.
